OCEAN CITY — Denise Baj will go to court for a third time to try and win approval to navigate her electric bicycle around town. Like the first two times, Baj, 51, of First Street, doesn’t really have a choice. The police recently issued her nine tickets for riding the unusual vehicle.
“It’s ridiculous. It’s harassment at this point. The two previous cases were dismissed. There is no law banning electric bikes in New Jersey. Anywhere a bicycle goes, I can go,” said Baj. It may not be that simple. There are differences in laws relating to bicycles, motorized bicycles, mo-peds and motorcycles. The police, at the urging of municipal Prosecutor Don Charles, want to see if requirements such as insurance, registration, motorcycle-type helmets as opposed to bicycle helmets and other things apply to the unusual conveyance. Another court case is the way to test this, said police Capt. Steven Ang.

DUBLIN -- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/9e5ef2/global_electric_bi) has announced the addition of the "Global Electric Bike Battery Market 2011-2015" report to their offering.
Tech Navio's analysts forecast the Global Electric Bike Battery market to grow at a CAGR of 11.4 over the period 2011-2015. One of the key factors contributing to this market growth is governments' regulations on supporting green technology. The Global Electric Bike Battery market has also been witnessing development of next-generation batteries. However, increasing concern on battery lifecycle could pose a challenge to the growth of this market. Key vendors dominating this market space include Chaowei Power Holdings Ltd, Tianneng Power Int. Ltd, Panasonic Storage Battery (Shenyang) Co. Ltd, and Chisen Electric Co.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from TechNavio's Clean Tech team said, The Global e-bike market is one of the fastest-growing markets in the world. Many developing and developed countries are adopting e-bikes faster in comparison to other automobile vehicles. Increasing health awareness, rising fuel prices, and increasing disposable incomes are some of the major drivers of the Global e-bike market growth. These factors have had a direct impact on the Global e-bike Battery market as a result.

Taipei, March 5, 2012 (CENS)--Tapping the supply chain of Mercedes-Benz’s Smart electric bicycles, along with partnership with European e-bike vendors, the Taiwan-based TD High-tech Energy Inc., a supplier of battery management systems (BMS), will challenge shipment of 200,000 lithium batteries specifically for e-bikes this year.

In addition to Mercedes-Benz, TD Hi-tech Energy has also been contracted by Spanish BH and Swiss Stromer to supply lithium batter modules for use in electric bicycles. For the moment, 95% of the company’s battery modules for electric vehicles are used in e-bikes and the remainder are used in electric motorcycles and scooters.

With 95% of its e-bike batteries going to Europe alone, the company explained that local consumers there widely use bicycles for transport, recreation and sport, some of whom are even willing to pay for high-priced but eco-friendly e-bikes. For instance, an e-bike mode launched by its customer Stromer and priced at CSF4,999 has proven a hot-seller.

At 22, Micah Toll has invented what he believes will be the next generation of plug-in urban transportation. After he moves here this summer, he plans an R&D center for his line of Pulse Personal Electric Vehicles.
New immigrants to Israel often bring new business ideas when they make aliyah. In the case of Micah Toll, a 22-year-old entrepreneur from Pittsburgh who is heading here this summer, Israel will be getting not only a new business, but maybe even a new industry – one that develops and builds two-, three-, and four-wheel electric vehicles.
Toll’s company, Pulse Motors, has already produced a two-wheel electric vehicle, called the PEV0 (Personal Electric Vehicle Zero), and it is in use right now at the University of Pittsburgh, where students zip around town on Pulse’s enhanced versions of electric bicycles. “We started the beta program at the beginning of the school year, and it’s been so successful that we extended it by several months,” Toll said in an interview with The Times of Israel. “We’ve been gathering data on the vehicle’s performance and using it to make improvements to our design.”

MANTUA TWP. — A facility that once saw the decline of a major local employer may yet help serve South Jersey’s economic recovery.
At least one company placed a bid for the former Electric Mobility Corporation’s office building - located on Mantua Boulevard - which went up for auction Monday.
Turnersville-based Berkshire Properties Inc. was the only bidder to have sent representatives as of 10 a.m., when the auction was set to begin at the facility being sold.
Frank A. Lauletta, an attorney representing Berkshire in the bidding, said the company wants to lease space in the roughly 50,000 square-foot building, if a deal eventually takes place.
“We see a lot of growth potential in Gloucester County in the next several years,” Lauletta said, citing big plans for area medical institutions and hospitals, as well as the looming Rowan-Rutgers merger, as sparks.
