Are rainforests both lungs and heart of our planet

Our View:

The New Scientist in its latest article on environment claimed that the rainforests of Amazon and Africa are not only the lungs of the planet earth, which helps it breathe, but also its heart. Like the heart in the human body which pumps blood , rainforests helps pump the water around the planet by generating winds that drive the oceans inwards .
The research done by two meteorologists Victor Gorshkov and Anastassia Makarieva of the St Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute of Russia is no rocket science that is difficult to comprehend. Rather they base their findings on simple schoolboy physics that has long been known and is irrefutable.
It is well known that the air pressure drops whenever water vapor turns into rain. Since this evaporation is stronger over the forest than over the ocean, the pressure is lower over coastal forests, which suck in moist air from the ocean. This generates wind that drives moisture further inland. The process repeats itself as the moisture is recycled in stages, moving towards the continent's heart. As a result, giant winds transport moisture thousands of kilometers into the interior of a continent that we have known since grade 5 as trade winds.
The Russian scientists have reportedly created working models to show how these winds behave that will undoubtedly create a lot of storm in the world of environmentalists
Since forests recycle rain, the precipitation falling on the rainforests evaporate through a process called transpiration, whereas that falling on barren landscape do not evaporate. This also could be a logical explanation to why the deforested plains of Australia and now North America are increasingly facing desertification, why East Asia, Amazon and Africa will increasingly go their way in time to come.
Some of our friends are creating an awareness by blogging for replanting the rainforests in their blog http://tinyurl.com/dzc478 . We request you to kindly join their effort and help create a better earth.

We could be wrong. Tell us if we are & why? We encourage diverse opinion even if it is from commercially interested groups opposed to our thinking.
