Sports all over the world gives us icons whom we trust, follow and highly regard, and even worship. It is for their pursuit of excellence and their dedication to the cause of their sport that they become our heroes. No wonder the world is aghast when a sports icon like Tiger Woods, or Shane Warne, or Muhammed Ali falters but often forgives them in the long run if they keep performing.
The Winter Olympics at Canada is an unique chance for sportsmen of the world to unite and protest against seal hunting by Canada, which is not only primitive and barbaric but extremly painful to the animal. One arm band displayed by the sports icons of the world including those of Canada may help the voiceless animal move from being one of the most cruelly butchered animals as they are maimed and dragged out of the cold waters into mor habitable terrain conducive for clinical butchering
Each year thousands of Baby seals, Mink and Fox are slaughtered to create thousands of fur coats and bags for the fashion industry, which celebs shamelessly wear in their pompous display of wealth, beauty and style. As per Ingrid NewKirk of PETA
https://secure.peta.org Canada's baby seal hunting season begins immediately after the winter olympics scheduled to begin in a few days and kills tens and thousands of baby seals each year.
"During Canada's annual seal massacre, hundreds of thousands of baby seals are shot or have their skulls crushed, all for the sake of "fashion." Sealers routinely hook seals in the eye, cheek, or mouth to avoid damaging the pelt, then drag the seals across the ice, in many cases without checking to ensure that they are unconscious.
Baby seals stand no chance against club-wielding trappers, and they must look on as fellow pups are bludgeoned to death before meeting the same bloody fate. The anguish that a mother seal feels as she watches her baby being beaten to death just a few feet away from her is horrifying and can be heard in her desperate cries. However the hunters don't want the mother, for it is the soft baby skin that our celebs and the trained hunters are looking for."
