With 36 hours left for #COP 15 summit closure the endgame truly begins in Copenhagen.
The Dramatic resignation of #COP15 President Connie Hedegaard just 48 hours before the closure was forced due to suspected leakages that she engineered in the Danish Draft to the delegates at large and her reluctance to push through a unfair draft.
It was known that she was unhappy with the text of the Danish Draft from the begining of the conference and the cloak and dagger games she was asked to play in engineering the climate coup of Killing Kyoto at Copenhagen.
As the G7 manipulation started at Copenhagen with the attempt by Climate rogue Australia to break the G77 solidarity she grew increasingly grew uncomfortable. Australia which tops all nations with 42 % emission rise has pulled out all stops in trying to kill Kyoto, as it will be topmost in the list of defaulters by 2010 on all accounts. Small island nation Tuvalu, a key dependant on Australia & New Zealand made the first move in attacking the rising emissions of China and India in order to break the solidarity of the G 77. While the big emerging countries were taken by surprise, China centric Sudan retaliated leading the African boycott of the summit which had the G7 in panic.
A $ 10 Billion aid package was hurriedly put together by the EU as an offer to bring back the Africans to the negotiations. However Sudan leading the # OASIS block rejected the EU offer saying that it was not even enough to coffins. The G77 put further pressure on the hosts when parts of the draft was leaked out by officials reportedly close to COP 15# President Connie. It is said that she also by mistake or design left behind unedited portions of the G77 draft including its trickery draft out for others to read and for Guardian U.K. to report.
The countermove by Maldives asking for a 1.5 degree temperature rise limit was a further setback for the G 7 with each African country along with China and India supporting it. As G7 planned a counter attempt to bring in yet another modified draft and break the G77 solidarity by offering an invite to 25 nations to negotiate in a closed door meeting it sensed a Trojan horse in its ranks. Each move by the G7 was supposed make was to be shrouded in secrecy in the cloak and dagger game of 192 nations . Connie instead laid out the agenda in the name of transperancy which irritated the G7 and embarrassed the Danish Prime Minister. The last straw in mutual disagreement came when Connie was left out of a crucial negotiation meeting held just 12 hours before the ministers were due to arrive.
This forced Connie to resign instead of staying as a lame duck President of #COP 15
She knew that she would anyway be the obvious G7 scapegoat for the summit failure and was being put out of action already, to avoid knowing about the endgame moves .So she wisely chose to resign, and will possibly join the ranks of dissenters after the #COP15 meet. However as a mark of solidarity she chose not to spill the beans before the #Copenhagen climate summit ended.
