The wave of global protests shall grow. It will not only hit the Arab states like Egypt and Tunisia but also sweep other authoritarian regimes in Lebanon, Libya, Bahrain, and even Saudi Arabia. Not all the uprising will be successful. Some will be mitigated while few will be brutally put down for the Gadaffi's and Saudi monarchs are no easy push overs . However protests will keep simmering till the discontent in the masses subside. That will not happen till quite some time because the people are not only fighting for freedom. They are fighting a war for survival after oil and food grain prices shot up by almost 30% on an average in the last quarter of 2010 and keep rising sky high. Saudi Arabia would do well to bring down oil prices by increasing production so that global tempers are low in the oncoming summer months.
However protests will not be restricted to the Arab nations. Western democracies will also feel the heat of empowerment though the form may be different as seen in Italy where protests by thousands of women activists on the streets forced the judiciary to act against the 79 year old Prime Minister Berlusconi . The Bunga Bunga parties of the 79 year old that had dozens of naked girls arousing the Italian Prime Minister with dirty dancing had long been known.
However as per confessions of Ruby the young Moroccan prostitute, that media baron and Prime Minister had protected from a theft charge, she has admitted to participating in such parties though not naked. The fact that Berlusconi had pulled strings to protect her from the police after her frantic phone calls and Berlo aide Nicole Minetta another controversial sex bomb had given her shelter that night has multiple evidence and shall be eventually proven by prosecutors. So will Berlo be jailed? Not so soon . Berlo's party the PDL
(People Of Freedom) are strongly behind him and still lead the opinion polls with 29.5% rating, though his personal rating has fallen somewhat from 40% to35%.
India will also see a wave of protests in the coming months as the corrupt congress Government fights multiple charges on one hand and law and order problem of militants like Naxals on the other hand protesting against lopsided development schemes. The situation can take a ugly turn this summer as multiple initiative to open up the economy is mixed with billion dollar under hand deals by those in power, with the Government unable to tell their party cadres and ministers to stop the loot. The Government on the other hand is conducting its own selective raids on adversaries and questioning even eminent industrialists while the CWG scam prime accused Suresh Kalmadi and Shiela Dixit have still not been charge sheeted. It is not long that street protests will surface in India against the dual forces of corruption and injustice.
